Introduction to Wanderlust: Rediscovering Life’s Adventures and My Story

It’s been an incredible four-year hiatus since I last truly posted my thoughts onto this blog. Strangely enough, it coincided with the onset of the pandemic – a surreal four years ago. That period marked not only the global shift but also the blossoming of a love story in my life ✨

In the midst of countless opportunities to explore the world, I’ve found myself falling short in capturing these moments through photographs. Living in the moment while wanting to share the inspiration has been a personal challenge. The time has come for a change – a revival of my blog, a platform to document my journeys visually and verbally. The prospect of sharing my experiences with a broader audience has become a motivating force.

Embarking on this journey, I aim to discover my audience, or perhaps, allow them to discover me. My interests are diverse – travel, wellness, cooking, near-death experiences, and more. The sheer variety of topics is overwhelming, leading me to the decision to kickstart with travel narratives.

Allow me to introduce myself to the beautiful souls who’ve stumbled upon my page. However you found me, I’m genuinely grateful and eager to share insights and inspiration. Let’s mutually motivate each other towards our aspirations. My name is Julie Mizuki Loyd, but I go by Zuki. I’m a 31-year-old individual, a blend of Okinawan (Japanese) and American (Polish background) heritage. Having spent significant time in central Texas, particularly 16 years in San Antonio and 13 years in Austin, I recently made a move to the Tennessee Valley with my boyfriend, Adam.

The decision to move is shrouded in mystery even for me. I have an enduring love for Austin, and rest assured, it’ll be a frequent topic on this blog. Mentioning the move to Alabama has often been met with disapproving looks, (even lost friends) – a sentiment I once shared. So, here I am, ready to explore, understand, and share what Alabama has to offer, dispelling any preconceived notions.

For the past decade, I’ve been a massage therapist, currently on hiatus. The plan is to delve into the cranial sacral community in Nashville and Birmingham. I enjoy cooking and growing my own crops hydroponically. I am also dabbling making music with my synthesizer (which is much more complicated than I expected being a former piano and violin player).

As for my interest in near-death experiences. I had one of my own at 19, it’s a story I hold dear and plan to share in the future. It’s a pivotal moment that continues to shape my daily existence.

In the coming posts, I’ll be sharing an rediscovering all my life’s adventures thus far, and I must apologize for the lack of photos. I may be using others’ photos, duly credited, as I recount my experiences. Rest assured, this is just the beginning. I’ll soon branch off into other topics, creating a tapestry of stories that resonate with the heart and soul. Join me on this whimsical journey, and let’s weave tales of inspiration and discovery together.
